Has the Holy Spirit been warning you to? Be prepared! – Prophetic Perspective by Shawn Bolz

I have to start this word off with telling you I am the least likely person to talk about prepping, homesteading, and thinking that potential wartype activity might break out domestically but I have been hearing God about this for the past season and felt I need to share this.

I heard God say late last year “Be ready. Be prepared.” and it came with a knowing that there is instability in governments, food systems, the earth with natural disasters, and even terrorist threats. 

We need to be prepared. There is even a special grace and anointing over regions to prepare. I think about one story I heard in the news about one of the citizens who apprehended a school shooter, he had just taken some refresher courses on his own skill level and felt these things were what prepared him for that moment. I know people in the military who have been on assignment that feel like their preparedness and training was for a now moment and they are engaging to keep us safe in America. There are whole food companies who can see the insidious agenda against human health with some of the government recommended food products being developed and they are God is anointing their farms, food companies to be first responders to some of the evil of government greed and control. Its a new day and we need to be prepared. 

As we have been thinking, praying and looking into what this could mean to us my wife got a call. It was no small thing then, when my wife got contracted to help host a show on preparedness and homesteading just months later where we feel like we are both in school with experts and people who have very doable home projects to prepare their families and properties for anything that might come up.

With the recent outage of cell phone services, a whole town in OHIO coming under the threat of a cyber attack, the internet going down for several hours in half of the country losing billions to banks and retailers, not to mention the potential threats of world war, domestic terrorism, food shortages, and even just weather disasters, its no wonder why so many Christians are having a sense of urgency for being prepared. 

But in the midst of that its not all about just natural preparedness, we have to be spiritually prepared as well. God’s Spirit is helping people, companies, cities, churches to be prepared for disasters and warfare. His anointing is hovering over these themes and you are going to find yourself getting exposed to more and more ways to engage preparedness. 

Spiritual Preparedness

1. Stay Rooted in the Word – “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (Psalm 119:105). In times of uncertainty, let the Bible be your unfailing guide, illuminating the way forward and providing hope and strength.

1. Pray Without Ceasing – “Pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Cultivate a life of prayer, seeking God’s wisdom and protection over your life and your loved ones.

1. Foster Community – “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:24-25). In challenging times, the Christian community is a source of strength, encouragement, and practical support.

Natural Preparedness

1. Be Wise Stewards – “The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down” (Proverbs 21:20). Wisdom calls for prudent preparation, ensuring you have necessary supplies and resources for times of need.

1. Learn and Educate – “A wise man will hear and increase in learning, and a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel” (Proverbs 1:5 NASB). Equip yourself with knowledge on basic survival skills, first aid, and emergency preparedness.

1. Develop Self-Sufficiency – “She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard” (Proverbs 31:16). Strive to develop skills and resources that can help you and your community become more self-sufficient, such as gardening, water purification, and renewable energy sources.

As you prepare both spiritually and naturally, remember that our ultimate trust is in the Lord. He is our rock, our fortress, and our deliverer (Psalm 18:2). Do not let your hearts be troubled, for He has overcome the world (John 16:33). In all things, let love guide your actions, sharing the hope and peace of Christ with those around you.
