I think Christians who really walk with God are just marked with favor. It is one of the most common benefits to being His friend that I have witnessed. I remember back I was supposed to go this international trip and we had just moved and were in living in boxes. I couldn’t find my passport, and I had about 40 hours before I was to depart. I went to the passport office in LA and the lady laughed at me and said “You will not be leaving the country, I can assure you.” I then asked about the expedited process, but they were running days if not weeks behind. I asked if there was anyone in charge of the expedited process that I could talk to, and she seemed annoyed. I just kept pressing in kindly and she gave me a place to go and talk to someone else at another window.

After I arrived at the new window, the man that was there treated me with the same indifference as she did. I said “I know it’s probably impossible, but can I tell you why I am going? I am on a missionary trip with a bunch of used to be orphans who really need me. I want to try and get there on time or within close proximity.” I realized that he was deeply moved. He had no connection to orphans or faith, but his grandfather had been his favorite person in his life and his grandfather would go on missions trips every year. His grandfather would come back with incredible stories. He loved his grandfather so much that he was convinced meeting me was a sign. He then went out of his way to get my passport done. I received it within 3 hours! There was a line wrapped all the way outside around the building. I knew that God showed up between us at the right time to push something forward that would have never happened.

Have you ever noticed one of those moments? Or the many moments where God makes an impossible situation happen? It is one of our highest Christian benefits.

God loves you and wants to create an amazing life through you, for you, and to the world around you. John 10:10 Jesus told the people around Him that even though the enemy comes to destroy. Jesus himself is coming to bring an abundance that is rare and different from anyone of their own experiences. Another word for favor is blessing or abundant life. These are synonyms in the original Hebrew for the word favor.

In normal life we see people of favor being those who are governmental officials, wealthy people, celebrities, artistic people, socially advanced, highly educated, etc. Well God sees people of favor as normal every day people who love him. We are the people of favor in his kingdom. We have the government of HIS kingdom on our shoulders. We have his fame wrapped around us. We have the creator living inside of us and he has been given a position above all positions (Ephesians 1:18-22).

That means that not having favor is not an option when you are walking in close relationship with God. It is a promise.

How is favor supposed to affect you, and what do you do with it? If we look at Jesus most powerful sermon in Matthew 5 He gives us a great clue:

Matthew 5

13  “Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.

14  “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.  15  If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand.  16  Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand–shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven

We are supposed to be the light to the world, sharing His God colors and bringing out His flavor in everything. Jesus says of himself in John 8:12.

12 Jesus once again addressed them: “I am the world’s Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.

We are supposed to be focused on what God is doing and where hope is alive. Our report about the world around us should provide others plenty of hope and life to live in. This is such a contrast to a normal way of living on the earth where the majority of humanity is in self protect and survival mode. Your job is to be full of life.

When you live focused on His light being your light. You start to live positive, full of hope, full of love, extending favor yourself, and the world around you begins to give you favor in unexpected ways. I can tell you stories (and I am sure you can tell me some to) about people in every industry who have had miraculous connections that caused things to happen that just don’t happen.

I am pointing this out to you this month because I believe God is bringing another installment of this favor. One of the reasons is outlined in Isaiah 49:8. “In the time of MY favor I will answer you and use you to restore desolate inheritances and restore the land.” God wants to speak answers to us and then use us to restore things that are missing or damaged in the world around us. If we focus on what is missing instead of what He is giving us we will miss out on a great dominion of blessing and favor.

Positioning yourself can happen in this season by:
Expectation: We should have an expectation for His goodness to come to us! (John 10:10) Retrain ourselves if we have a negative expectation in an area to expect favor.

Prepare for Favor: We should look through all the things God has told us and pray that He closes the reality gap between what we are promised and what we have. His favor causes those gaps to get smaller and smaller until they don’t exist.

We should begin to hope and imagine for more in life. No matter what age you are, there is a God who wants to do beyond what you can hope for or imagine by His love. (Ephesians 3:20)

I pray His favor hits you this month so you can thrive!
